Mr. Stephan "Paul" Rodgers age 52, of Starke passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 14, 2014 from natural causes. He was born in Jacksonville on August 23, 1962 to Herb and Patsy Rodgers. He was raised in Baker County and was a 1980 graduate of Baker County High School. Upon graduation he received a baseball scholarship from South Georgia College and following college resided in Baker County until 1989 when he married Lisa Alvarez of Starke.Following his retirement from Publix Supermarkets Inc. in 2012, as a truck driver he continued serving as a firefighter for Heilbronn Springs, which he had been for most of his life. He completed the Law Enforcement Academy and became a Deputy Sheriff with the Bradford County Sheriffs Office, achieving his lifelong goal. Paul mentored many youth over his career helping to mold them into responsible adults. He could always be found in and around schools, actively involved in the many sports functions of young men and women, making a difference in many lives. Paul enjoyed supporting the endeavors of his children and coaching kids in many sports. He was currently involved in the Half-Century Mens Softball League and was playing with the Line Drive Team out of Jacksonville. He was recognized and received many awards as a Nine Time Elite All-American Softball player.Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Woodrow and Sadie Johnson and paternal grandparents, Clifford and Geneva Rodgers. Survivors are: his wife Lisa Rodgers of Starke, children: Lainie Kay Rodgers and Dylan Paul Rodgers of Starke, his parents: Herb and Patsy Rodgers of Macclenny, brothers: Darrell Rodgers (Tammy) of Macclenny, and Jamie Rodgers of Live Oak. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.The family will receive friends at the NORTHSIDE BAPTIST CHURCH on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be in Northside Baptist Church on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Pastor David Griffis, and Brother Larry Finley officiating. Interment will follow in Dyal Cemetery.
