Mr. Stephen Craig Edwards, age 80, of Starke, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday October 9, 2026. He was born in Gainesville, to Merrill and Edna Louree (Howard) Edwards. Mr. Edwards attended Florida State University in Tallahassee where he earned his MBA in Marketing; followed by joining the Air Force where he dedicated several years of honorable service. Mr. Edwards was employed 37 years with the City of Starke, working in their in-Waste Management department where he was well-respected and beloved by his colleagues. He took great pride in his work and was known as a problem-solver with a sharp mind and a kind heart.

He had many passions, including a love for music and a knack for telling jokes that brought laughter to others. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, working in his yard, and hunting for arrowheads as well as taking numerous river trips with his brothers were a cherished tradition that he looked forward to each year. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister Mary Lou Black and brothers Merrill Jerome Edwards and Richard Vern Edwards.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his nephews Wally (Melissa) Black, David Black, Mark (Jeanie) Edwards, Jerry (Marie) Edwards, Scott (Darcy) Edwards, and nieces Christine (Dale) Bedford and Karen (Dan) Carver, sister in-law Judy Edwards along with numerous great nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Viewing for Mr. Edwards will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday October 14, 2026, in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Scott Crook officiating. Interment will follow Rock Primitive Cemetery in Brooker, Florida, where he will receive military honors for his service to our country.
