Stephen "Steve" Willaim Gay Age 63 Of Starke

Mr. Stephen "Steve" W. Gay, age 63 of Starke passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Shands Hospital in Starke unexpectedly. He was born November 12, 1955, in Munich, Germany and moved to Starke in 1956. Steve graduated from Bradford County High School in 1973 and joined the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War. He then began his career as a professional truck driver and had been employed with Dixon Auto Transport for many years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he spent many hours volunteering taking care of the grounds and anything else that needed to be done. Steve also enjoyed riding horses and was a great conversationalist; he enjoyed helping his parents and anyone else that asked. Steve loved working and was a great provider for his family. Steves brother Stanley Alex Gay had preceded him in death. His survivors are his wife and mother of his children Maxine Gay of Starke and their three children Daryn Gay (Amanda Box) of Lawtey, Jency Norman (Kenneth) of Starke and Trevor Gay (Sarah Spalding) of Lawtey and his parents Harold L. and Jane (Gornto) Gay both of Starke. Also left behind are a brother LeVance Gay (Suzanne) of Blackshear, Georgia and a sister Melissa Srivibul (Loat) of Starke. Steve was also lovingly called "P-Bear" by his grandchildren Jensen Stewart, Brooklyn Gay, Jaryn Box, Shayla Gay, Ireland Box, Londyn Box, Devyn Gay and Cason Gay along with a great-grandson Langston Allen, four nieces and one nephew. A memorial service for Steve will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2019, in the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Don McGarity and Reverend Diane Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
