Mr. Stokes E. Cole age 86 of Keystone Heights passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Haven Hospice E. T. York Care Center in Gainesville following a brief illness. He was born January 2, 1937, in Fort Lauderdale to James L. and Gladys (Thorn) Cole. Mr. Cole was drafted into the United States Army for 27 months; he retired as a Field Engineer after 31 years of employment with NCR. He was a member of Fresh Start Fellowship Church in Keystone Heights, enjoyed being outdoors fishing or hunting, and was very talented with his wood carving skills. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his son Steven Shelby Cole. Mr. Cole is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years Barbara (Morris) Cole and their son Matthew Stokes Cole both of Keystone Heights, and a sister Sharon Lope of Clearfield, Pennsylvania. He was lovingly called "Papaw" by grandchildren Stephanie Rosier of Middleburg and Shelby Cole of Gainesville along with his 3 year old great grandson Everett Steven Rosier. Services for Mr. Cole will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be given to Fresh Start Fellowship Church, P.O.
