Mrs. Sylvia Jane Thomas passed peacefully on Monday April 20, 2015 at Community Hospice at St. Vincent's. She was born in Atholi, Massachusetts on February 28, 1937, to James and Priscilla Wallace, and is preceded in death by her sister Louise Flake and 2 grandchildren, Spring Marie Thomas and Robert Daniel Thomas. Mrs. Thomas was a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Florida and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She spent most of her career as a bookkeeper at Cotney Tire Service, eventually retiring from Tire Centers, Inc. She will be remembered for her love of her surviving husband of 51 years, Robert D. Thomas, who also pampered her as her primary caregiver for nearly 20 years, along with her love of home and family, and many pets she adored through the years. Mrs. Thomas is also survived by children, Debbie Johnson (Bill), Linda Matola (George), Sandra Rentfrow (Don), Robert C. Thomas, Mary Griffin (Doyle) and Paige Savitz (Chris). She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 1 nephew. Her service will be held at Riverside Baptist Church, 2650 Park Street, Jacksonville, FL 32204 at 12 Noon on Thursday, April 23, 2015, with Chaplain Brent Beaird officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to service at the church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her memory to: Riverside Baptist Church or Community Hospice of NE Florida or Jacksonville Humane Society. Arrangements under the direction of George H.
