Tommy Daniel
Cason, Jr.
Nov 30, 1946 — Dec 1, 2025
Tommy Daniel Cason Jr., 79, of Fort White, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025. Born on November 30, 1946, in Fort White, Florida. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Tommy served his country with honor during the Vietnam War.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Catherine Cason, and his daughters Gloria Friar (David) and Susan Tucker (Robert), as well as his stepson David Mathis. He took great pride in teaching his daughters how to hunt and fish—skills that he cherished. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren Logan Tucker, Lauren Tucker, Jeffery Crawford, Paige Tucker, and step grandchildren Lindsay Robinson and Ronald Mathis III, and seven great-grandchildren.
He is also remembered fondly by his siblings: sisters Thomasine Thomas and Martha Legler, and brother Lagree Cason. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents Tom Cason Sr. and Katherine Cason; sisters Georgia Mae O'steen, Helen Chesser, Ellen Ross; and brothers James Rourks and Ervin Rourks.
Tommy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was most at home on the river fishing or deep in the woods hunting. A true outdoorsman at heart, he once caught a world record red belly and shared his expertise through lectures on river fishing techniques. When not exploring nature's bounty firsthand, he could often be found sitting quietly on his back porch watching birds and deer pass by.
His love for animals extended beyond the wild; over the years he cared for many loyal dogs who were constant companions on his outdoor adventures. In later years, he developed a special bond with two beloved cats, Muffin and Boots, who brought him comfort and companionship.
