Tyrome Timothy Caraway went to sleep in the arms of Jesus on December 17, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones. Ty was 56 years old. He was born with Downs Syndrome but his was a life well lived. Many accomplishments decorated his life: He participated in the Special Olympics, was valedictorian of his graduation class at Sidney Lanier Opportunity School in Gainesville, FL and learned to travel alone by city bus to the Gainesville library, becoming quite proficient at navigating the microfiche catalogue to read about his historical interests in entertainment media. He worked in assembling cafeteria utensils and was also a grocery bagger at his local Publix store. His hobbies included moonlighting as a karaoke star of all John Denver songs, writing his own songs, web browsing on his computer and being the University of Floridas number one Gator fan. He is remembered most fondly for his love of pizza. Ty leaves behind four siblings: Diane Granade, Gail (RJ) Gravell, Randy (Debbie) Caraway, and Gary (Ondena) Caraway; three nieces (Genice, Shauna, Bethany), eight nephews (Dwayne, Jeremy, Brandon, Cory, Brett, Joel, Jonathon, Michael); and many great nieces and nephews. The celebration of Tys life will be held at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Ave, Gainesville, FL 32609, followed by a graveside service at Forest Meadows Memorial Park West, 700 NW 143rd St., Newberry, FL 32669.
