Usmc Larry A. Montroy

Sgt Maj USMC Larry A. Montroy RET age 74 of Starke passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at UF Health in Gainesville. Mr. Montroy was born in Du Quoin, IL on November 16, 1946, to the late John and Dorothy Montroy. Larry entered the Marine Corp following High School and served two tours in Vietnam where he later retired as a Sergeant Major. Following his military service, he received a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University and was employed at Bradford Terrace Nursing Home until retirement. During his free time, he enjoyed reading, guns, traveling in his RV, fishing, and spending time with his family.He was preceded in death by his parents John and Dorothy Montroy and sons, David Raymond Corbin and Michael Alan Corbin. Survivors include his wife of 43 years Doris "Hicks" Montroy; daughters, April Montroy of Starke, Kim (Joe) Maniscalco of Panama City Beach, and Vicki (Rockwell) Roberts of High Springs; sons, Rickey (Rinthy) Matthews of Starke, Robert Corbin of Starke, and Marc Montroy of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Kiersten, Nicole, Drew, Josh, Tyler, Kaylee, Christopher, and Blake; and five great-grandchildren.Graveside services will be held at Crosby Lake Cemetery on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with military honors.
