Verna Dampier Cellon Graudons

Verna Dampier Cellon Gruadons, age 91, of Melrose, Florida passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Plantation Oaks Assisted Living Facility in High Springs, Florida with her husband, George, at her side. Verna was born on November 10, 1923. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hattie Dampier, siblings John, Murray, Jimmy and Joe Albert Dampier, her first husband, Albert Cellon and an infant son. Verna retired from The Division of Plant Industry in Gainesville in 1984 where she was the head of Personnel. In her retirement years she enjoyed traveling with her husband, George, in their RV to many different parts of the country. Their home was on Lake Santa Fe where they enjoyed entertaining their friends and family. Verna enjoyed gardening and she had a real "green thumb." She could root practically anything and make a new plant. When she was at home she greatly enjoyed cooking and "fixing" for her friends and family. She was a member of Fresh Start Fellowship of Keystone Heights. Verna is survived by her husband of 46 years, George, her son Johnnie Cellon and his wife Kathy, three grandsons, Scott, Joel and Jared Cellon, three great-grandchildren, Jolie, Joseph and Jacy Cellon. She is also survived by her brother, Bill and his wife Hazel and many nieces and nephews. Verna was loved and cared for the last two years of her life by the staff at Plantation Oaks Assisted Living Facility in High Springs, Florida and also Hospice of Nature Coast. A life Celebration service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Fresh Start Fellowship, 7191 State road 21, Keystone Heights with Stephen Conner officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in La Crosse, Florida at a later date.
