Vernon Eugene Glisson

Mr. Vernon Eugene Glisson, Sr. age 76, of Hawthorne, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Saviour on December 27, 2017, surrounded by family following a short illness. Vernon was born on July 25, 1941 in Jasper, Florida. He was raised in Starke and graduated from Bradford County High School in 1960, where he met & then married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Shannon. Vernon was a retired meat market manager for Pantry Pride and later Hitchcocks in Hawthorne. He loved watching racing, football and western movies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Susie (Allen) Glisson; and brothers, Alfred Glisson and Leroy Glisson. Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Carolyn (Shannon) Glisson of Hawthorne; daughter, Virginia Elmore (Van) of Hawthorne; sons, Vernon Glisson, Jr. (Yvette) of Hawthorne and Vince Glisson (Joan) of Gainesville. Also left behind are thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other family members that loved him very much. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Crosby Lake Cemetery with Pastor Aaron Morgan officiating.
