Vicki
Chastang
Dec 6, 1948 — Apr 15, 2026
Vicki Chastang, born December 6, 1948, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, deep love, and a life poured out in service to others.
A proud Jacksonville native, Vicki graduated from Englewood High School and carried her love for her hometown throughout her life. She spent many years in Lakeland, Florida, where she became a cherished member of her community and All Saints Episcopal Church before returning to Jacksonville last August.
Vicki devoted much of her life to ministry; serving faithfully in many different ministries and missions organizations, both at home and in places like China, Brazil and South Africa. Her greatest joy in ministry was found in the years she spent serving as a prayer minister with Christian Healing Ministries.
Known by many as a woman of deep and abiding faith, Vicki was someone you could always depend on to pray for whatever the request might be. Her generosity was just as remarkable. She gave freely of her time, her resources, and her heart; always ready to encourage, support, or simply be present for someone in need. If it were possible to document all the testimonies from the lives she touched through her prayers and her kindness, there likely wouldn't be enough paper to contain them all.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Graylin Chastang; her son, Cory Chastang and his wife Ali; and her daughter, Courtenay Bowser and her husband Jeremiah. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Jedidiah Bowser, Elijah Bowser, Benjamin Chastang, and Kathryn Chastang.
Vicki was the kind of mother who showed up—at every dance recital, every theatrical performance, every cross country meet and track event—cheering loudly, clapping enthusiastically, and loving wholeheartedly.
That same devotion only deepened when she became a grandmother. She often said, "Being a grandmother is like having my heart walking around outside of my chest." Jedidiah made her a grandmother, and from there the name "Gi" was lovingly established for Elijah, Benjamin, and Kathryn.
As "Gi," she continued her legacy of showing up—encouraging, cheering, loving, and always praying over her grandchildren. Her presence was steady, her support unwavering, and her prayers constant.
Vicki will be remembered for her fierce love, her feisty spirit, her incredible generosity, and her powerful prayer life. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored, the faith she carried, and the countless lives she uplifted.
The memorial service for Vicki will be held at Redeemer Church in Ponte Vedra, Florida, Thursday, April 23rd at 10am.
