Violet "Vi" Acres Shutterly passed away on January 10, 2023. Violet is survived by her four children, Gigi Lewis (Jimmy), Mary Travis (Mart), Dennis Sergent (Lea), and David Shutterly (Jennifer). She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Jason Luke, Chris Luke, Katy Lewis, Stephanie Sergent, Dennis Sergent III, Rebekah Shutterly, Hannah Shutterly, Arty Travis, Austin Travis, Olivia Keller and 10 great grandchildren.Violet was born on November 23, 1936, in Logan, West Virginia to Floyd and Mary Acres. She was a coal miners daughter. The stories told of coal mining and being raised in the "hollers" gave us a mental picture of her childhood and what life was like living in a one room house without running water and electricity. Her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida in the early sixties. Her hobbies included gardening, walking, and spending time with her family. She was an animal lover and always had a dog and a couple of cats. Violet enjoyed traveling and would often visit Tennessee. Oneida, Tennessee held a special place in her heart as that was her fathers birthplace. Her daughter, Mary, and her family, live in Dayton, Tennessee so that was always a fun destination for her to visit. Violets family, on her mothers side, were from Calabria, Italy. Italy was a bucket list destination. We believe her Italian heritage gave her the lust for life and helped her live a long life. She enjoyed socializing, dancing, bowling (in her early years) and family gatherings. She was a beloved "Grandma Ninee" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
