Mrs. Virginia Cavender age 92 of Keystone Heights passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at Haven Hospice in Gainesville. She was born August 25, 1927, in Hahira, Georgia to Frank and Lorena (Rumsey) Martin. Mrs. Cavender was a homemaker and had also worked for the First Baptist Church Day Care. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, watching television especially the soap operas; she was also an avid Gator and Atlanta Braves fan but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of forty years James H. "Jimmy" Cavender and a brother James E. Martin. Mrs. Cavenders survivors are two children Judy Tomlinson (Tommy) of Keystone Heights and Johnny Cavender (Lanae) along with a sister Beth McClellan (Randall) all of Valdosta, Georgia. She was also lovingly called "Granny" by her six grandchildren Sheila Gartrell (Philip), Angela Ward (John), Jason Tomlinson (Beverly), Jerry Cavender, Melinda Wingate, Brian Cavender (Alexis) and fourteen great grandchildren. Visitation for Mrs. Cavender will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Brandon Denmark and Pastor Scott Stanland will be officiating. Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Friendship Cemetery in Hahira, Georgia. Arrangements are by JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME, 340 E. Walker Dr., Keystone Heights, FL 32656.
