Virginia Griner, 91, passed away May 13, 2024 in Jacksonville, FL. Mrs. Griner was a native of Thomasville, GA. She was a longtime resident of Tallahassee, Florida residing in Jacksonville, Florida the past year. She was an executive secretary for the Department of Public Safety for the State of Florida, having retired after forty years. She was a member of the Seminole Baptist Church in Tallahassee, FL, where she taught Sunday School there for many years. She was also a sorority house mother at FSU at one time. She was preceded in death by parents; R.C. Sowell and Lavonia Croley Sowell, a daughter, Sherry Elaine Helms and two sons; Rick and Alan Griner. Survivors include; Gregory Ray Hough (Beverly), five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
