Mr. Wallace "Wally" Nelson Smith, age 72, of Keystone Heights passed awayWednesday, May 3, 2023, at St. Vincents Clay in Middleburg. He was bornDecember 31, 1950 in Jacksonville to Monroe and Ellen (Hoppers) Smith.Wally was a long time member of the 103 rd Street Baptist Church inJacksonville and was a lifetime Trustee of the Smith Family Cemetery. He was asuccessful small business owner for years with Circle 11 Mobile HomeCommunity and his tractor service. Following his retirement, he began livingthe life of a rancher on the Circle 11 Ranch. He lived for working and puttinghis John Deere tractor to use, raising cows, horses, goats, and anything thateats. He stayed busy always tinkering and starting ambitious projects. He hada strong passion for local and national politics. He was a faithful and Godlyman, who selflessly helped many people over the years through his generosity,kindness, and unmatched work ethic. In addition to his parents he waspreceded in death by his son, Wallace Justin Smith, and his brother, WilliamMonroe Smith. Wally left behind his wife of nearly 52 years, Kathleen (Lecas)Smith, of Keystone Heights and their children Tiffany (York) Pasanen ofMelbourne, Kristen (Rick) Waychoff of St. Johns County, and Troy (Brittany)Smith of Keystone Heights; along with a sister Sherrie Ketchie (Jim) ofMacclenny. Mr. Smith was lovingly called "Papa" by Collin Waychoff, LeanneWaychoff, Quinn Pasanen, Zane Pasanen, and Briauna Perkins. He also leftbehind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and his special "Granddog"Odin. He was loving and loyal to all those he left behind and will be painfullymissed. His impact on the lives he touched will be felt for many years to come.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2023, with hisnephew, Reverend Corey Smith, officiating.
