Obituary

DunawayWalter Judson (Jay) Dunaway, 89, passed away after a long illness on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the Willey Manor Assisted Living Facility at Park of the Palms, Keystone Heights, Florida. Born in Augusta on April 14, 1923 to the late William R. and Essie R. (Owen) Dunaway, Mr. Dunaway earned a diploma from Richmond Academy, where he sang and played in the band. In 1942 he married Mildred H. Williamson, with whom he shared a deep religious faith and a love of sacred music. Mrs. Dunaway died in 2006. Mr. Dunaway served in the United States Navy 1942-1946, after which he worked for many years in the U. S. Postal Service, first as a railway mail clerk on trains throughout the southeast, and later, after moving to the Atlanta area, as a clerk in the Briarcliff Post Office branch there. He is survived by his wife of six years, Elsie; daughters Nancy Jay Puhr of Roswell, Georgia, and Judith Dunaway of Novato, California; son James Dunaway and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Barlow of Houston, Texas; son Joseph Dunaway and daughter-in-law Nancy Bingham Dunaway of Bloomington, Minnesota; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a brother, William Price (Billy) Dunaway of Augusta; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Lee of North Augusta. A memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Advent Christian Church in Augusta, GA on Saturday, September 8th at 2pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions to be made to Camp Hope, 7011 Pony Lake Rd. Dahlonega, GA. 30533 or Marshview Bible Camp, P.O.
