Mrs. Wanda June Compton, 79, of Florahome passed away in Palatka April 2, 2023. She was born May 29, 1943, in Russellville, Alabama to Virgil and Jewel (Brown) Hargett. Prior to retirement she worked as a hairdresser. Mrs. Compton was a Baptist, enjoyed gardening and watching hummingbirds; she was a member of the American Legion Post 202 and Amvets Post 86 in Keystone Heights where she loved playing BINGO with her friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Richard Compton. Survivors include her son Richard Compton of Perry, Iowa; grandchildren James of Jefferson, Iowa, Matthew of Perry, and Karen both of Perry, Iowa. Also left behind is her brother-in-law Alvis Compton of Florhome and sister in-law Leona Nelson of Mineral Wells, West Virginia along with and many cousins and additional family members, and friends.
