Mr. Wandell L. "Matt" Matthews age 64, of Keystone Heights passed away at his home, Friday, January 13, 2017. He was born in Moultrie, Georgia on January 28, 1952 to the late Fred and Juanita (Lupo) Matthews. Mr. Matthews had proudly served in the United States Army and retired after 20 years as Sergeant First Class. Following his retirement with the Army, he began a new career with the State of Florida working as a Corrections Officer until his second retirement. Mr. Matthews has been a resident of Keystone Heights for six years moving here from Starke. He was a member of AMVETS Post 86 and the American Legion in Keystone Heights and enjoyed playing his guitar and fishing. He was a Christian and loved his family, military, country and his God. Mr. Matthews is survived by his daughters: Mandy Leno of Middleburg, Jenny Wimberley of Albany, Georgia and his son, Daniel Bryan of New York. Also left behind is a brother, John Matthews of Jonesville, LA; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A private memorial service for Mr. Matthews will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements are under the care of JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME, 340 E.
