Wesley Kent Markham Sr. passed away at age 92 on February 25, 2021. Born October 26, 1928 to Pearce and Sue Markham. He was a lifetime native of Jacksonville. He graduated from Landon High and then attended University of Florida. He was then drafted into the Army at the start of the Korean War and served from 1950-1952. He was in Head Quarters Company of the 37th Engineer Combat Group in Hanau, Germany. Later he was assigned to Head Quarters Company, 30th Infantry Regiment in Benning, Georgia. He then married and completed his education at Jacksonville University. He taught school at John Gorrie and Forrest High. Being very mechanically inclined and loving to work with tools, he designed and built one and two men submarines and scuba tows. They were featured in numerous magazines, along with being a guest on the David Frost show. He is survived by his three children: Candice Everling (Richard), Kathryn Lanham (Steve) and Wesley Markham Jr. (Arlyne), four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters Ann Langer and Lynn Rogers, also by good friends, Lela Chelton and Jean McGreagor.
