Mr. Wilbert Harold Nelson 92, of Keystone Heights died Thursday January 13, 2011 in Starke. He was born on June 1, 1918 in Summerhill, PA to the late Alfred and Lena (Burnett) Nelson, Sr.. Mr. Nelson had served in the United States Army during WWII. While in service he was a rifleman overseas in England, France, Luxemburg, Germany, Austria, and Czechoslovakia for 14 months. He had fought on the line against the enemy until wounded in action in Germany. He knew all the basic Infantry weapons, and was awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, European-Middle-Eastern Service Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. Prior to his retirement he was an Air Conditioner Engineer. Mr. Nelson was of the Presbyterian Faith, member of the Operating Engineers Local 324, loved fishing, farm animals and gardening. He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve and their daughter, Linda McLellan. Survivors are his daughters, Debbie Taylor (J.P.) of Green Cove Springs, Lois Toth (Steve) of Chelsea, MI, and Joan Sarrant of California;Son in law, Gordon McLellan of MI; 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 4:00 P.M. at the Keystone Heights Cemetery with Rev. Ron Penrod officiating.
