Wilbur Emmett Jones, age 65 of Middleburg, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012 at home following an extended illness. He was born in 1947 to the late Kenneth and Irene (Batten) Jones. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, where he served during the Vietnam Era. He loved playing drums in his band Wagan. Mr. Jones also enjoyed golfing. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sharon Jones, sons, Wilbur E. Jones, Jr. (Lisa) of Ohio, Lloyd Nickell of Middleburg and Bryan Nickell (Jeannette) of New Jersey, daughters, Kimberli Ann Ross (Doug) of Tampa and Jinny Rebecca Williams (Boyd) of Utah, a sister, Pat Holden of Middleburg, half-brother, Kenneth E. Jones of Jacksonville, 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Helm-Gallagher Funeral Home in Green Cove Springs. Burial will follow in Penney Farms Town Cemetery, where the U.S. Air Force will present Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 PM, Thursday until time of services at 3:00 PM.
