ObituaryMr. Wilford BattenMr. Wilford Batten age 59, of Lawtey formerly of Blackshear, Georgia passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City. Mr. Batten was born on December 1, 1950 in Blackshear to the late Vernon and Azalee Gray Batten and grew up in Hollywood; FL. He moved to Lawtey 24 _ years ago from Middleburg, was a Carpenter and House Mover working in Baker County for many years, and the surrounding area. Wilford was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church in Lawtey. He was preceded in death by his son Johnny Batten and Brother Jimmy Batten. Survivors are: his wife of 24 _ years Lucinda Batten of Lawtey; children: Joseph Batten (Melissa) of Colorado; Christina Snyder (Mark) of Tennessee; step-children: Corby Griffis and Keri Griffis both of Lawtey; sister: Judy Thompson (Aubrey) of Blackshear, GA; granddaughter: Sabrina Bohon of Panama City; step-grandchild Dakota Griffis of Lawtey. Memorial services for Mr. Batten will be on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in Evergreen Baptist Church of Lawtey.
