Mr. William Lloyd Bill Allen, Jr. age 82, of Starke passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Haven Hospice Custead Care Center in Orange Park. Mr. Allen was born on January 27, 1931 in Jacksonville to the late William Allen Sr. and Maude Edna (Williams) Allen, moved to Starke from Jacksonville 16 years ago and was a protestant. Bill was a member of the Andrew Jackson High class of 1950 and worked on the reunion planning committees. Prior to retirement he worked for Maxwell House as a maintenance mechanic, served in the United States Army and the Army Reserve. In more recent years he served his community by working on the Lakewood Improvement Association and was Co-Chair of the Lakewood Fire Wise Committee. He was preceded in death by his step-son Steven Warren and sisters Marilyn Guinn and Gloria Jones. Survivors are his wife of 16 years Linda (Johns) Allen of Starke; step-son: Garry Dean Coe of Fort Walton Beach; step-daughter: Susan Warren Inman of Jacksonville; sisters: Myra Rye of Floral City; Shirley Ward of Jacksonville; five grandchildren and several great grandchildren. The family will receive friends in the DEWITT C. JONES CHAPEL on Monday March 11, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with funeral services beginning at 2 oclock. Interment will follow in Crosby Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606.
