William Larry Bland, a lifelong resident of Alachua, Florida, passed away after a brief illness on April 22, 2025. Born on October 20, 1951, Larry was the beloved son of Alma and Earl Bland, both of whom preceded him in death.Larry was married to the love of his life, Melinda J. Bland, on July 17, 1971. Their marriage was a testament to deep commitment and companionship until her passing. Together, they built a loving home and raised two children: Christopher J. Bland (Lee) and Teresa J. McLaughlin (Bill).He was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren: Cody McLaughlin (Kim), Bill McLaughlin (Brittney), and Wyatt McLaughlin (Daniela), who brought him immense pride and joy.Larry served honorably in the Army National Guard and spent most of his professional career at Bear Archery and RTI Technologies. Known for his strong work ethic and sense of humor, he also had a deep love for the outdoors. An avid hunter and skilled marksman, Larry spent much of his free time in the woods with his best friend and extended family, the Dampierscreating lasting memories filled with laughter, camaraderie, and tradition.Larry was preceded in death by his siblings: Bobby Hunter (Peggy) [both deceased], Billy Hunter (Christine) [Billy deceased], and Betty McIntosh (Richard) [both deceased]. He is survived by his sisters, Earlene DiSalvo (Michael) [Michael deceased] and Jeannie Daugherty (Paul), who will continue to cherish his memory.He will be remembered for his loyalty and the deep affection he held for his family and friends. Larrys spirit, shaped by his roots in Alachua, and his love for his family and friends, leaves an enduring impact on those who knew and loved him.A service will be held to honor his life at Forest Meadows Funeral Home in Gainesville, FL, on May 24, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Larrys name to Haven Hospice of Gainesville.
