Mr. William S. Burriss, 86, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026. He was born on November 19, 1939, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late Stanton S. Burriss and Billie L. Burke.
William proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, including honorable service during the Vietnam War. Following his military career, he retired from the Marine Corps and remained active in his community through his involvement with the Jacksonville Kennel Club. Throughout his life, William embodied the values of honor, integrity, and service. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to a friend or neighbor and was known for his generous heart, dependable nature, and quiet strength.
An accomplished carpenter, William found great joy in building and creating with his hands. He loved working outdoors and took pride in every project he completed. Whether helping family, friends, or neighbors, he was happiest when he could put his skills to use in service of others.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Windie S. Russell; his cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth Moody, Donovan Russell, Ashly Pipkin, and Brittany Crundwell; and 12 beloved great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his sisters, Carolyn Wiegand and Jerrie Eaves and his brothers, John Burriss, and James Burriss.
William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Burriss; his father, Stanton S. Burriss; his mother, Billie L. Burke; his brother, Richard Burriss; and his sister, Marie Conyers.
