Mr. William Joseph Campbell age 90 of Keystone Heights, a true American passed away at his home Sunday, December 21, 2025. He was born on June 9, 1935, in Ovid, New York, to William Henry and Margaret Mary (Haust) Campbell.
Mr. Campbell proudly served in the United States Navy, and in his civilian life, he was an aircraft welder for the government. He took great pride in his work, always embodying the values of dedication and craftsmanship that defined his character.
Mr. Campbell was not just a mechanic; he was a master of his craft, known for his skills with automobiles and his deep passion for motorcycles. He enjoyed nothing more than hitting the open road and embracing the freedom that came with it. He was a long-time member of the American Legion Post 202 in Keystone Heights, where he found camaraderie and lasting friendships.
In his downtime, you could usually find him indulging in his love for western shows or listening to the timeless music of Elvis Presley. He was also a former Shriner and a proud 32nd Degree Mason, having served as Grand Marshall. His community involvement was a testament to his generous spirit and commitment to making a difference.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his loving and much devoted wife of 62 years Patricia Louise Campbell and their son Billy Campbell.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Bradford Scott Campbell (Kimberly) of Colbert, Georgia, Kathleen Jane Nilsen (Chip) of Keystone Heights, Maureen Loise Tolen of Middleburg, Pamela Annette Campbell of St. Augustine, and Kevin DeWayne Campbell (Shirley) of Keystone Heights.
He was lovingly called "Popeye" by his eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date so that family and friends can come together to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Legion Post 202 at 7441 SR 21, Keystone Heights, FL 32656.
