William Joseph Carney

Funeral services for William Joseph Carney, 99, who passed away on January 7, 2016, will be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM in Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Fr. Bernardine Eikhuemelo and Fr. Michael Houle officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 PM with a Prayer service at 7:00 PM at the George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, Interment will be in the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1:30 PM on Wednesday. Mr. Carney was born in Jacksonville, Florida and is a retired Clerk with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army 517th Rigger Parachute Regiment Combat Team during WWII. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Preceded in death by his step-daughter, Ann Natal; Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Gladys Mesorana Carney; 1 daughter, Claudia Pratt; 1 son, William Michael Carney; 8 grandchildren, Kimberly, Eric, A.J., Michele, Tom, Colleen, Jason, and Joshua.
