William Harold Collins

Mr. William Harold Collins age 94, of Keystone Heights passed away at his home on Saturday, July 23, 2016. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia on August 3, 1921 and had served in the United States Army Air Force. Mr. Collins was a member of the American Legion Post in Starke and had been a resident of Keystone Heights since 2013. He was a decorated World War II Veteran receiving the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Stars; Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars; Good Conduct Ribbon; Purple Heart; and World War II Victory Medal. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Collins was the maintenance supervisor for the Tahition Village in Jacksonville Beach. He was also an advocate of the East Bedford Lake Families for having the camp fence removed. Mr. Collins enjoyed being outdoors fishing and hunting; he also loved the sport of boxing and baseball. He had four wives that preceded him in death. His survivors are his six children and their spouses; Rodney Collins (Daphne) of St. Petersburg, Wesley Ray Collins (Marcelle) of Tennessee, Robert Wayne Collins (Yvonne) of Sebastian, Iris "Sandie" Williams (Jud) of Keystone Heights, Effie Pratt (Sam) of West Virginia, Richard Hamilton Collins of Tennessee. Also left behind are seven grandchildren, Michael Collins, Danielle Collins, Ronnie Wayne, Robert Wayne Collins, Jr., Judina Williams Keaton, Kristy Sheedy and Michael Sheedy along with six great grandchildren, Austin Thomas Hollingsworth, Cheyenne Collins, Brittney Collins, Ryan, Kevin and Austin. Mr. Collins was blessed with two special caregivers, his granddaughter Judinia Williams Keaton and his great grandson, Austin Thomas Hollingsworth. The family will be having a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Haven Hospice, 6400 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, FL 32177.
