William R. Dewitt

The angels came from heaven December 2nd 2015 to receive William R. "Bill" DeWitt, 69 from his home and family. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. Bill attended Ribault High school and graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Criminology which lead to a 30 year career with the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office. Bill served under Mayor Ed Austin and Mayor John Delany as Special Investigator. He was Director of Security at First Baptist Church downtown. Bill is survived by his wife of 40 amazing years, Bertie DeWitt, daughter Kimberly Stallworth and two grandchildren McKenzi Rae and Carson DeWitt Shelpman, sister Violet Sheller and brother- United States District Judge Shelby Highsmith.
