William Edward "Bill" Flakes

William Edward "Bill" Flakes, Jr. age 74, of Keystone Heights, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017 in Starke. He was born in Jacksonville on October 11, 1942 to the late William Edward and Ollie Mae (Morgan) Flakes and proudly served in the United States Air Force. Bill retired from the Orlando Fire Department in 1992 as an Engineer and moved to Keystone Heights in 1995. He was a lifetime member of IAFF #1365 and AMVETS Post 86.He was preceded in death by his sister, Vondia Seal. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Gail D. Flakes of Keystone Heights; daughters, Debra Villella of Kissimmee and Aimee L. Hoop of Lake Wales; step-daughter, Jamie Fietsam (Joseph) of Marissa, Illinois; siblings, Rosine Strickland of Lawtey, Fredrick "Butch" Flakes of Keystone Heights, and Audrey Bishop (Steve) of Keystone Heights; brother-in-law, Dick Seal of Florahome; favorite ex-wife, Carole Lavon Sweeney of Keystone Heights; grandchildren, Bryan Villella, Jr., Damien Hoop, Wesley Hoop, Daniel Hoop, Alyssa Poletto, Caitlin Poletto, Victoria Fietsam, Lauren Fietsam, Joseph Fietsam, and Luke Fietsam; two great grandchildren; along with numerous other family members and friends.The family will receive friends at the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with funeral services beginning at 2 oclock with Pastor Jason Stephens officiating.
