Mr. William "Bill" Putnam Hewell age 80, of Keystone Heights passed away at Riverwood Nursing Home in Starke May 31, 2017 following a long illness. He was born in Jacksonville on July 28, 1936 to the late William and Isabelle (Grosser) and had been a resident of Keystone Heights for the past 30 years. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Hewell was employed by the Florida Times Union in Advertising as well as other departments for nearly 40 years. He was a member of Fresh Start Fellowship and was a 32nd Degree Mason at the Morocco Temple in Jacksonville. Mr. Hewell also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and back in his younger years, coaching youth and city league baseball. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Corey Johns. Survivors are his loving and dedicated wife of 59 years, Tomi (Bradley) and their two children; Ginger Hewell Hamner (Tony) of Earleton and Mikell Hewell (Debi) of Port St. John and one sister, Sally McArthur of Tallahassee. Also left behind are six grandchildren, two great grandchildren with one on the way and members of the Landon Class of 1954. A memorial service for Mr. Hewell will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 3, 2017 in the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Conner officiating.
