Mr. William W. "Bill" King, Jr., age 75, of Keystone Heights passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville. He was born January 17, 1944, in Jacksonville to the late William and Doris (Batchelder) King, Sr. and had served in the United States Naval Reserves. Prior to retirement, Mr. King was an educator in the Florida School System for 31 years; he began his teaching career in Keystone Heights then going to Bradford High School and retiring from Hampton Elementary School. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Gainesville and the American Legion Post #202 in Keystone Heights. Mr. King had a passion for wildlife along with fishing and hunting. He was also a history buff, he enjoyed reading about the Civil War and using his metal detector to look for Civil War memorabilia, along with going to antique shops. He enjoyed traveling with his family but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. King is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Linda (Paterson) of Keystone Heights and their two children Karen Corbin (Chad) of Simpson, South Carolina and Steve King of Portland, Organ along with a brother Terry King (Katie) of Nashville, Tennessee. He was also loving called "Papa" by Austin and Ashley. Graveside services for Mr. King will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 8, 2019, with Pastor John Glover officiating. Interment will be at the Keystone Heights Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
