William "Bill" Herman Marschall

Mr. William "Bill" Herman Marschall, Jr., 94 of Penney Farms, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021. Mr. Marschall was born March 4, 1927 in Cook County, Illinois to parents William Sr. and Esther G. (Boyer) Marschall. Bill was a longtime resident of Penney Farms Retirement Community and a member of Church of God in Middleburg. He served in the United States Coast Guard during the World War II era and was a Police Captain for the City of Chicago Police Department, where he worked for 29 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Albertha (Jeeninga) Marschall. Survivors are his wife, Caroline S. (Ackerman) Marschall of Penney Farms, daughter, Charlotte Ann Schmalz (Frederick Puetter) of Littletown, CO, and grandchildren, Zachary William Schmalz and Amanda Christina Schmalz. The family will hold a visitation Tuesday, July 27, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Helm-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Penny Farms Memorial Church with Sid Rooy officiating. Burial will take place in the Penney Farms Cemetery.
