William Edward "Eddie" May

William Edward "Eddie" May, 50, of Hawthorne passed from this life on August 13, 2016 following a short illness. Eddie was born in Cavite City, Philippines April 26, 1966 to Robert R. May and Mila May.He leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Barbara May and his children, Delaney May, Richard Bass, Jr., Amanda Scott (Travis), and granddaughters, Aubree, Adelynn and other family members, aunts, Sharon May Dunlap (Jimmy) and Jori Hall of Valdosta, GA, Johnny May and Donna May of Rockledge, FL, in-laws, John Hodges (Marilyn), many beloved nephews and cousins, and best friend, Jayson Levy.Eddie faithfully served 20 years for Alachua County Sheriff's Office. His large ASD family has been a great source of comfort throughout his illness. If ever a man was loved, Eddie was by friends and family. He will be missed greatly.Eddie was a huge motorcycle enthusiast. He really loved teaching people to ride safely. For all of his students ......you had one of the best instructors.And of course Eddie was a huge Florida State Seminole fan. He graduated from Northeast Lauderdale High School in Meridian, MS and received his BA from Florida State University.Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 20 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4000 NW 53rd Ave, Gainesville. Interment with honors will follow in Forest Meadows Memorial Park East.
