William Roy McDaniel, 88, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday the 27th of November, 2014 at his home of 48 years in Lake Butler, Florida.Roy, the foundation of strength and wisdom of the McDaniel family, was born in Waresboro, Georgia on the 22nd of February, 1926. After serving in the US Army in World War II from 1944 to 1946, he worked in construction as a welder and steamfitter for 40 years. As an active member of the Church of God, Roy was eager to help any way needed, from teaching Sunday school to driving the church bus. Roy is preceded in death by his father (Elmond McDaniel), his mother (Viola H. McDaniel), brothers (Raymond and Earl McDaniel), and sister (Thelma Tanton). He is survived by his wife of 61 years (Ernestine White McDaniel of FL); sons (Larry McDaniel [Denise] and LaVon McDaniel [Beverly] of FL); daughters (Carol McDaniel Beebe [Walter] of NY and Kay McDaniel Mattson [Rex] of CA; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers (Lamar and Carl McDaniel); sister (Doris McDaniel Dickson); and many nieces and nephews.The viewing will be held between the hours of 6pm and 8pm on Monday, December 1, 2014 at the funeral home. The funeral service for Mr. McDaniel is scheduled for 10 o'clock the morning of Tuesday the 2nd day of December, 2014 at the Lake City Church of God, Highway 90 Lake City, Florida, with Dr. Lamar McDaniel and Pastor Carroll Lee officiating. The graveside service will follow at 3:30pm at the Waresboro Cemetery in Waresboro, Georgia.
