Funeral services for Sergeant William Robertson Messick, 59, will be held at 2:00p.m. Wednesday, September 8th in Harvest Time Church, 4502 Old Middleburg Road, with Clarence Jarrell, Police Chaplain officiating.Born September 13, 1961, in Mobile, Alabama, to Dolores and Douglas Messick, Sergeant Messick died Monday, August 30, 2021 in Jacksonville. Sergeant Messick was a Corrections Officer with the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office and a beloved Jacksonville Sheriffs Office police academy instructor. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Riverside Lodge No. 266 F.&A.M. where he was Grand Worshipful Master in 2019, The Scottish Rite Bodies and Morocco Temple of the Shrine. Mr. Messick had been with JSO since the 1990s before retiring and then joining the police academy as an instructor in 2010.Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Dolores C. Messick of Jacksonville; two daughters, Hannah Messick of Los Alamos, New Mexico and Nicole Messick of Jacksonville; a son, Douglas Edward Messick of Jacksonville; and a sister, Cynthia Evers of Tifton, Georgia.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of George H.
