William Cecil Robbins

William Cecil Robbins, 88, passed away January 14, 2016 in Jacksonville surrounded by his family.Mr. Robbins was born on October 17, 1927 in St. Augustine, FL to Charles W. & Ruth C. (Riley) Robbins. A longtime resident of Jacksonville, Mr. Robbins was a veteran of the United States Navy as well as a Merchant Marine. He graduated from Landon High School, Class of 1945, and was an active member of the schools Alumni Association. He was a member of Spring Glen United Methodist Church for over 60 years.Mr. Robbins retired from the Lincoln Mercury Division of Ford Motor Company after 35 years of dedicated service. After retirement, Mr. Robbins was selected by Lincoln Mercury dealers in the Orlando region to manage their Advertising Co-Op, which he did for 23 years. He enjoyed an amazing 58 year relationship with Lincoln Mercury dealers throughout the region. Mr. Robbins was an avid golfer for many years and supported area sports teams.On May 15, 2005, after 53 years of marriage, he lost the love of his life Mariedith Stevenson Robbins. He is survived by three sons Jon Robbins (Karen) Deland, Gene Robbins (Lisa) Jacksonville, and Glenn Robbins (Dawn) St. Johns; 7 grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, Sean, Lauren, Riley, and Rachel Robbins and Jayme Cook; 1 great-grandchild Aurora Robbins; brother James Robbins (Myrna); sisters Clarice Greek Maxey and Margaret Brant (Patrick) and many cousins, nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday January 22 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S. A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
