William "Billy" Dewitt Roberson

Mr. William "Billy" DeWitt Roberson, Jr. 72 of Melrose passed away Monday, February 15, 2021, at Roberts Care Center in Palatka. He was born March 31, 1948, in Palatka to the late William D. and Edna (Ridaught) Roberson, Sr. Mr. Roberson grew up in Melrose and attended Melrose High School. He retired as the Superintendent of Construction from Clay Electric following 35 years of dedicated services. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of Cracker Boys Hunting Club; he enjoyed being outdoors gardening and especially hunting and fishing. Mr. Roberson was also known for being a great story teller and his talent for building things. His survivors are his loving and devoted wife of 43 years Peggy (Sanders) Roberson of Melrose; children DeWitt Roberson (Katrina) and Mechelle Head all of Palatka, Melissa Bronson (Daniel) of Keystone Heights and Todd Roberson (Amanda) of Gainesville. Also left behind are his two siblings Hazel Blankenship of West Virginia and Buster Roberson (Gamble) of Carraway. He was lovingly called "Pawpaw BR" by Sarabeth Kirkland, William DeWitt Roberson IV, Casey Whiteside, Kaitlin Callaway, Lindsey Head, Elizabeth Bronson, Daniel Bronson and Alan Roberson along with nine great grandchildren. Visitation for Mr. Roberson will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2021, from 5 - 7 p.m. in the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 18, 2021, with Mr. George Woody and Mr. Larry Price officiating. Interment will be at Eliam Cemetery.
