Wilson Hill "Sam" Abernethy, aged 88, died in his sleep on Thursday, November 14, 2013. He was a World War II Navy veteran and letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Whitaker (Eddie) and grandchildren Toby, Anthony, Tori, Becky and great-granddaughter Olivia of Mechanicsville, VA, daughter Marianne Seay (Mike) and grandchildren Sam, Misty, John and great-grandsons Jacob, James, Aidan and great-granddaughter Sophie of Aylett, VA, and son John Abernethy (Amy) and grandchildren Emily, John and Sarah of Gainesville, FL.
