STEWART: Funeral service for Wilson "Monroe" Stewart, 94, who passed away on June 19, 2021, will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the North Jacksonville Baptist Church, 8531 N. Main Street, with Dr. Herb Reavis Jr., officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service at the church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Stewart was born in Columbia City, Florida and was a longtime resident of Jacksonville. At the young age of 17 he joined the U.S. Navy and he bravely served abroad in the South Pacific during World War II. Upon returning after WWII he went to work with Pure Oil Company, then he went to work with Colonial Oil Co. as a Salesman becoming Vice President of Sales. Later he left and started his own real estate business. He became the Purchasing Officer for the City of Jacksonville under then Mayor Jake Godbold. Later he worked for University Hospital, becoming Shands and eventually U.F. Health. He retired as Vice President of U.F. Health and did consulting work for them the next 20 years. He was a 33 degree Mason and was a member of the Francis T. Hulbert Masonic Lodge and the North Jacksonville Baptist Church. He was married to the love of his life the late Annette Stewart for 56 wonderful years. Survivors include his 3 sons, Ron M. Stewart (Carole), James D. Stewart, and Doug H. Stewart (Christine); 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements under the direction of George H.
