Winston C (Buck) Snowden of Gainesville, Florida died Monday April 10, 2023, at the age of 91. He was born in Inverness, FL, lived in Trenton, FL, moved to Gainesville in 1940. Mr. Snowden was a member of the Westside Baptist Church of Gainesville, FL and Eastside Garden Club.He served in the United States Air Force as an Air Policeman. He joined the Gainesville Police Department in 1957 and retired as a Lieutenant in 1981. He was employed as the Chief of Police and Security of the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Gainesville, FL, retiring in June 1994.Mr. Snowden was a graduate of Gainesville High School. The Southern Police Institute. University of Louisville, Kentucky. Santa Fe College with an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice, and Florida Technological University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in criminal Justice.Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Myra Moody Snowden, a son, Carl Gregory Snowden, Granddaughter, Kelli M. Snowden and Grandson, Kyle G. Snowden. Sister, Margaret Youngblood and sister in-law, Vita Snowden. He preceded in death by his Father, Carl W. Snowden, Mother, Edith Osteen Snowden, Brother, Charles C. Snowden, Sister, Linda Gail King, Grandson, Winston Shane Snowden and Granddaughter, Jessica Snowden.Celebration of Life services will take place on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor David Chauncey officiating the services at Forest Meadows Memorial Garden Chapel at 4100 N.W 39th Avenue Gainesville, FL 32606.
