Mrs. Zenaida M. Yates age 76, of Melrose passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023, in Starke. She was born March 15, 1947, in the Philippines to Paul and Eleuteria (Narciso) Marchan, Sr. Following 25 years of employment, Mrs. Yates retired as Canteen Chief from Veterans Canteen at Orlando VA Healthcare System. She had attended the Full Gospel Church in Melrose and enjoyed playing computer games, raising fish, and crocheting; in the past she also enjoyed collecting stamps and taking photos. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Jerry Howard Yates, Sr., and children Sherry Williamson and Michael Adams. Mrs. Yates leaves behind her children Jerry Yates, Jr. (Angela) of Hawthorne, Robert Yates (Jennifer) of Melrose, and Paula Adams of Texas; siblings Elsa Leslie of Tallahassee and Paul P. Marchan, Jr. of Key West. She was lovingly called "Honey" by nineteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. Also left behind is her fur baby Bud. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
